How to Choose the Best Barber Training in Canada

The right barber training depends on what you actually need. For most people that is the ability to cut a clean fade on a real person and the confidence to charge for it.

A few things separate strong training from weak training. Small class size. Time on live models. Instructors who still cut hair for a living. CADMEN Barber Academy is built around all three.

What the training gives you

  • Class size: smaller is better. CADMEN caps classes at three students
  • Live-model time: more is better. The fade class runs about ten live cuts per student
  • Instructors: working barbers teach better than career lecturers. CADMEN is anchored by co-founder Francis Paua, 25 years in the trade
  • A path forward: fade, beard, and scissor classes, plus online business coaching for future owners

Licensing, stated plainly

Ontario regulates hairstyling as a skilled trade with an apprenticeship path and a Certificate of Qualification. Barbering skill itself can be learned privately. CADMEN Barber Academy is a private training studio. It does not grant a hairstyling licence, Skilled Trades Ontario apprenticeship hours, or a registered career college credential. If your goal is the provincial certificate, you earn that through the apprenticeship and exam process. If your goal is to cut hair well and start working or building a client base, private hands-on training puts you on real heads fast.

Common questions

What matters most when choosing barber training?

Time with clippers in your hand on real heads, and an instructor who can correct you on the spot. Programs heavy on lecture and light on cutting leave you slow when you reach a real client.

Is CADMEN a licensing school?

No. CADMEN is a private hands-on studio in Mississauga. It builds cutting skill. The provincial certificate is a separate apprenticeship and exam path.

Do students travel for the training?

Yes. Students come from across Canada and the United States for the in-person classes in Mississauga.
